Community Update 8/9/2023

Dear John Muir Families,

Welcome to the start of an exciting new school year! We look forward to having our students back in our halls, filling them with the vibrant energy and enthusiasm that only they can bring. Whether you are returning families or joining us for the first time, we extend a warm welcome to every one of you. The purpose of this letter is to let you know about upcoming dates and contact information. A full update will come in the next few weeks!

First Day of School: 9/6 for 1st-5th grade students, 9/11 for Preschool and Kindergarten

Community Walk: On 8/26 several of our staff members we will go on a Community Walk! Touring the neighborhood will help us appreciate the life and soul of the community, develop deeper relationships with families, identify community resources to tap into, and enrich instruction using what we learn about families’ cultures and backgrounds. Feel free to say hi if you see us in the neighborhood or join us on the walk. We will start at Muir at 11am and end at Mt. Baker Park!

Community Updates: Full community updates will begin on 9/1 and sent out bi-weekly. This will include all important school updates.

Meet the Teacher: 9/5 We invite you to meet the teacher and tour the school. Class placements available on 9/5. Time TBD. More info coming soon!

Schools Supplies: You do not need to buy school supplies. John Muir PTA will provide supplies requested by teachers except backpacks.
