Budget and Staffing Update for 2023-24 • In addition to how funding is provided to all schools, John Muir is fortunate to have additional funding through other sources such as the Levy, Tiered Equity, Title 1, LAP (Learning Assistance Program), and High Poverty LAP. That said, budget cuts are being made Districtwide. One change for Muir is that we will lose one classroom teacher (we currently have 16; next year will have 15). Another big change is the elimination of District funding for our Assistant Principal position (District funded 0.5 this year and will no longer fund any portion of this position at all). John Muir staff voted to fully fund the AP position, which subtracts from the monies we can allocate toward other needs such as tutors, afterschool programs, supplies, etc. But we felt strongly enough that our AP is a necessary position and the staff voted to fully fund this position out of our own Muir budget. Stay tuned for other budget/staffing updates as they develop.
