Principal’s Community Update 10/24/22
October 24, 2022
No School on Veterans’ Day • Friday, November 11
New Traffic Flow • Thank you for working together to make our drop-off and pick-up routines safer! Please review these key reminders:
- 34th Ave S (between Horton and Hinds) is one-way south at drop-off and pick-up
- 33rd Ave S (between Hinds and Spokane) is one-way south at drop-off and pick-up
- Students should exit cars on school-side, curbside only.
- Pedestrians always cross at intersections (not the middle of the block), ideally with an adult.
- Review our map and full policy.
We need volunteers from 2:15-2:35 to help with pick-up traffic flow.
Please sign up to volunteer for drop off and pick up.
Holiday Reminder • We ask that students not wear costumes at school and that parents do not send sugary treats. We’ve also seen children come with lunches stuffed with candy after Halloween, so please help your child by not packing a lot of candy/sweets in lunch boxes. Thank you!
New School Year Calendar • Please visit this link for the updated school year calendar.
PTA Cafe • Join us this Wednesday, October 26, for our monthly informal, PTA-sponsored coffee chat in our Cafeteria from 7:55-9 a.m. Get to know other parents while enjoying a free drink and snacks! This is also an opportunity to talk with administrators.
PTA Meeting • You are invited to PTA’s first community gathering event of the school year! PTA will host dinner and provide child care for all families. PTA wants to hear from all parents about what makes our school and community great and how we can work together as a community to make it better! Your feedback is important to help set PTA priorities for the school year. Interpreters will be provided for Somali, Amharic, and Spanish speakers.
When: Wednesday, November 2, 6:00 – 7:30 pm Where: John Muir Cafeteria
Picture Retakes • The school photographer will be back on Thursday, Nov. 3 for picture retakes.
