Lion Pride Community Update 5/13/2024

Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!!:  We are extremely grateful and we acknowledge all our families who identify as Asian American and Pacific Islander! Feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher to collaborate on recognizing your heritage and culture!   

State Assessments: Smarter Balance Assessment (SBA) will take place from April 29 to May 30th for all 3rd -5th graders. If you have questions about state testing, please email Mr. Thomas at   

LGBTQ+ Pride Event: We’re thrilled to extend a warm invitation to join us on June 7th, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM, for our vibrant ‘Pride Community Circle’ right in the heart of our cafeteria. Expect an evening brimming with love, support, and celebration! Explore our LGBTQ+ resource tables, dive into engaging activities, and come together for a heartwarming community circle. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or proudly stand as an ally, all are welcome to join in the fun and festivities. Let’s honor diversity, embrace inclusivity, and show our unwavering support for our LGBTQ+ families, staff, and allies. Mark your calendars and let’s make this Pride celebration one to remember! Bake Sale and Move-a-thon Fundraiser for SESSFA a Huge Success! It was beautiful to see our community come together to raise $1,400 for the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance (SESSFA). And our Lions did such an amazing job running in the SESSFA move-a-thon! Huge thanks to our volunteers! About half of our PTA budget comes from SESSFA so it’s a great way to support Muir and all SE schools. You can donate to SESSFA through 5/31:

May is Bike or Walk to School Month: Join our Muir Walking School Bus from Rainier Vista!  

Thursday 5/16: Muir’s Walk and Bike to School Month Celebration in the drop off area! We will have FREE treats, safety swag, prizes, and information for students and families.  

FREE helmets: If your child needs a helmet, let us know here and we’ll get them one:  

 POSSIBLE Free Bikes: If your child needs a bike, complete this form and we’ll TRY get them one:  

 Review walking and biking safety tips with your family (English, Amharic, Chinese, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese). 

 If you drive, follow the Drop Off/Pickup Policy to keep kids, families, and staff safe!
