Lion Pride Community Update 4/19/2024
Multicultural Day!!: Get ready for Multicultural Day! April 25. We’re bursting with excitement to announce a jam-packed day of celebration starting with a school-wide assembly at 1:30 p.m., featuring dazzling performances from our talented students and vibrant community members. Parents, you’re invited too! Come join the fun and witness the magic unfold! As the day rolls on, our festivities continue with the Multicultural festival and potluck from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish representing their culture to share. Can you imagine the deliciousness and diversity on display? We’re salivating just thinking about it! We will also have performances from various community partners. Now here’s where you come in – we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this day even more spectacular. Mental Health Awareness Week: In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we as a school will celebrate by highlighting the following themes next week:
Monday will focus on exercising and breathing Tuesday is healthy eating day Wednesday is mindfulness day
Thursday is all about communication. Talk about your feelings today! Friday is to express yourself and do what you love.
Family Resource Hour: We would like to remind you that we have Family Resource Hour every Wednesday from 12:00-1:00. in the Muir library. Please attend if you need help with anything school-related or translated.
State Assessments: Smarter Balance Assessment (SBA) will take place from April 29 to May 30th for all 3rd -5th graders. If you have questions about state testing, please email Mr. Thomas at qothomas@seattleschools.org.
“Move Around the World” with the Muir Lions: Monday, April 29th, and Friday, May 3rd: John Muir families can join nearly 7,000 other families across SE Seattle (representing 17 schools!) in Move-A-Thon events and fundraising. We’ll kick off with a Spirit Morning at drop-off on 4/29, and then cheer on each grade as they move onto the playground on 5/3. You can treat yourself on Saturday, May 4th at our community bake sale! Please donate to Move Around the World today Share with your network. (Funds raised are distributed among Alliance schools using an equitable funding distribution model.)
Join the Muir Walking School Bus! About 10 kids walk together from Rainier Vista each day, led by parent volunteers. Consider joining them and/or volunteering as a leader! This is a great way for kids to connect and get exercise on their way to school. Muir Walking School Bus Route details.

Important Reminders: Breakfast is served every morning 7:40-7:55. All students arriving to school before 7:55 must be go to the playground. Please do not drop-off or pick-up students in the staff parking lot.
