Lion Pride Community Update 9/24/2024

Calendar of Events: 

September 25th: Special Education Family Night (3:45 pm to 4:45 pm in the John Muir Library). See below for additional details. 

September 26th: Volunteer Orientation (4 pm-5 pm in the John Muir Library). See below for additional details. 

October 8th: First PTA meeting (6 pm-7:30 pm in the John Muir Library and on Zoom). Dinner and childcare are provided!! 

October 10th: Title I Curriculum Night at John Muir from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Pizza will be provided. 

October 11th: NO SCHOOL 

Reminders: 

Leaving students at the gate: To promote independence and confidence, we encourage you to drop your students off at the gate and let them walk in by themselves. This small step helps them build self-reliance and ease their morning routines. Thank you for your support in fostering their growth! 

Additional Information: 

Happy Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month: Americans observe National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. The month-long celebration coincides with the independence days of Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Belize. The celebration began in 1968, and was made a month-long celebration in 1988 by the U.S. Congress. Join us this month in celebrating the myriad of cultures within Central and Latin America and other Spanish-speaking countries, and the contributions of those peoples to America! Special Education Family Night from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm  (September 25th, John Muir Library): We’re excited to invite families with students in our special educational programs to our Special Education Family Event! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families, learn about our programs, and share experiences. Join us for an evening of fun, support, and community building. We look forward to seeing you there! 

Volunteer Orientation from 4 pm to 5 pm (September 26th, John Muir Library): We need YOU! Volunteers play a crucial role in making our school community vibrant and supportive. If you’re interested in getting involved this year at John Muir, we invite you to attend our Volunteer Orientation! In the meantime please check out current volunteer opportunities and complete the SPS volunteer process and application at SPS Volunteer Application. The volunteer type for all our volunteers is Category A. We look forward to seeing you there and working together to make this year extraordinary! 

First PTA Meeting from 6 pm to 7:30 pm (October 8th, John Muir Library and Zoom): The PTA will host the first of two PTA meetings in October on October 8th. The focus of the first meeting will be to introduce the PTA board, share the board’s priorities and how to get involved and create space for families to meet one another and connect. All PTA meetings are open to the community. Dinner and childcare provided. Please join us in October and visit the Muir PTA website where you can learn about how to join upcoming meetingsbecome a member, and get involved.
