We are thrilled to kick off the 2024-25 school year and welcome new and returning students! Community update emails will go out twice a month throughout the school year.

September calendar of events:

September 11th: This is our first early release Wednesday. School ends at 1:10pm for all students and will end at that time every Wednesday for the rest of the year. 

September 20th: School picture day for all grades.

September 23rd: All first day packet forms due.

September 26th: Volunteer Orientation (4pm-5pm in the John Muir Library). See below for additional details.

October 8th: First PTA meeting (6pm-7:30pm in the John Muir Library and on Zoom). Dinner and childcare provided!!

Reminders and additional information:

Reminder for visitors: All visitors must sign-in at the front office.

Drop off coming from Rainier: Families who are traveling by car coming from Rainier Avenue are welcome to drop students off at the corner of Walden and Mcclintock or park in the neighborhood and walk them to the gate on the NW corner of the building.

Family Resource Hour: We will have “Family Resource Hour” in our school library every Wednesday, starting on 9/11 from 12 pm to 1 pm. This is an opportunity for families to receive translation support, tech support, and other resources available from the school, PTA, or district! Please sign in at the front office upon arrival.

Volunteer Orientation from 4pm to 5pm (September 26th, John Muir Library): We need YOU! Volunteers play a crucial role in making our school community vibrant and supportive. If you’re interested in getting involved this year at John Muir, we invite you to attend our Volunteer Orientation! In the meantime, please complete the SPS volunteer process and application at SPS Volunteer Application. The volunteer type for all our volunteers is category A. First PTA Meetings (October 8th and 22nd, John Muir and Zoom): All PTA meetings are open to the community. The PTA will host two monthly meetings beginning in October – one in-person meeting to build and support community (second Tuesday of each month) and one virtual meeting to address PTA business (fourth Tuesday of each month).
