Lion Pride Community Update 11/9/23

Family Resource Hour: The ORCA LIFT program from Catholic Community Service will be present during the Family Resource Hour, signing up people for reduced bus fare. You will qualify if you receive food assistance (SNAP) and low-income insurance. Please bring your government issued photo Id and proof of income (30 days of pay stubs or benefit award letter). We also provide the Subsidized Annual Pass enrollment services for those who qualify. See you Wednesday Nov,15,2023 at 12pm 

Leadership Coffee and Chat: Please join Principal Thomas and Assistant Principal Gardner November 17th at 8:00 am in the library for refreshments and conversations with Admin. Look forward to seeing you there. 

Parent-Teacher Conferences: There is no school November 20th-22nd for parent teacher conferences. Please make sure you have signed up for conferences with your student’s teacher.  

Literacy Night: Books Light The Way: Reading For a Bright Future” on December 7th from 4:30 to 6:00. Bring the family for an evening of stories and activities promoting the joy of reading. Let’s explore the world of books together for a brighter tomorrow!

5th Grade Class Update: We are thrilled to welcome back a familiar face to the John Muir community. Please join us in welcoming back Taylor Jenkins, who was an integral part of our John Muir family last year as a fourth-grade teacher. Ms. Jenkins will join us as a 5th grade teacher January 2nd, 2024. We also want to give gratitude to Ms. Isakson for stepping in and leading such a great class during this transition. 

Kwanza Celebration: On Wednesday December 13th, from 4:30pm to 6:30 pm join us as we gather to recognize, learn about, and celebrate Kwanza. Kwanza celebrates black history, values, family, community, and culture. The evening will include student performances, a black authors marketplace, family resources, and dinner.  

PTA meeting–all are welcome! Tues Nov 14, 6:00-7:30pm. Childcare & dinner provided. Feel free to bring a dish to share. Attend at Muir or via zoom.
