May is Walk and Bike to School Month
Muir will celebrate Walk and Bike to School Month throughout May! Walking and rolling can be a fun way to get exercise, improve learning and safety, and connect with community! How you can get involved as we head into May:
- Adhere to Muir’s Drop Off and Pickup Policy
- Take this brief, anonymous Muir Transportation survey
- See SPS resources for Walk and Bike to School Month
- If you live on the route, join our Walking School Bus that starts Southeast of the school, going from 38th Ave S, with a stop at Rainier Court.
Email johnmuirsaferoutes@gmail.com to volunteer, ask questions, or share ideas!
Field Trips this year have been generously funded by organizations who are hosting the trips. As a Title 1 school, we are often the beneficiary of educational opportunities at no cost to us or our PTA!
Our New Playground Slide was missing parts. Those parts are scheduled to ship on May 8th. SPS will work with the crew to schedule the installation as soon as possible.
Many families would like to be more involved in their child’s education, and staff members like to work closely with families. Volunteer options include: Time at school, projects at home, field trip chaperone, etc.
You must complete the online Volunteer Application, which can take several weeks to process and approve. Teachers determine what type of assistance is needed, and the office will also have opportunities. We appreciate your support!
Explorations Day is Friday, June 2. If YOU have a talent to share, please inform Erica Gordon (parent rep for this event). Email Erica at steeltoestudios@yahoo.com
