Student Pickup Policy
Caregivers must come onto the playground to retrieve their child from classroom line at 2:25. If you choose to stay on school grounds to play, please wait near teacher’s line or on the grassy area until 2:35 (not on the playground equipment). Walkers Pass: Children are safest when accompanied by an adult, but some 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders may be ready to walk or bike home from school alone (with green walking pass). To decide whether your child is ready for a walking pass, review these safety tips with your child. (You may ask the office to provide translated versions in Amharic, Chinese, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese). To be approved for a Walker’s Pass, the child’s legal guardian must sign and submit a form, attesting that you have reviewed the safety tips and approve your child leaving Muir unaccompanied. Submit completed form to Mr. Thomas or drop off at the front office. Even if you have already provided approval, complete the process on the updated version which is being sent home with students today. In some instances an older sibling may accompany children younger than third grade but this must go through the same approval process. If you need help finding a walking group, please let Mr. Thomas know. Drivers: Do not turn into or drive through the crosswalk or intersection while people are crossing. *Always drive and park on the right side of the street. *34th Ave (between Horton and Hinds) and 33rd Ave S (between Hinds and Spokane) are both one-way south at drop-off and pick-up. *Do not make U-turns or back up.
